Como ele deve se enganar? Quando você diz a um homem sedento: “Apresse-se! há água no copo: tome a água imediatamente”, O homem sedento dirá de qualquer maneira? — “Esta é mera afirmação: saia do meu lado, ó pretendente! Vá para longe!
3595. Ou senão apresentar algum testemunho e prova de que este é de tipo aquoso e consiste na água que corre de uma nascente. Ou suponha que uma mãe grite para seu bebê que está amamentando: “Venha, eu sou mãe: ouça, meu filho!” – O bebê dirá? — “Ó mãe, traga a prova disso, para que eu possa me consolar em teu leite”. Quando no coração de qualquer comunidade há sabor percepção espiritual de Deus, o rosto e a voz do profeta são como um milagre probatório. Quando o profeta emite um grito de fora, a alma da comunidade volta-se para adorar dentro,
3600. Porque nunca no mundo o ouvido da alma ouvirá de alguém um grito igual ao seu. Aquele estranho a alma, pela percepção imediata da estranha maravilhosa voz, ouviu da língua de Deus as palavras: “Verdadeiramente estou perto.”

Although this seems to be mere assertion on his part, yet the soul of the dreamer says, “Yes, it is true.” Therefore, since Wisdom is the faithful believer’s stray camel, he knows it with certainty, from whomsoever he has heard it; And when he finds himself absolutely in front of it, how should there be doubt? How should he mistake himself? When you say to a thirsty man, “Make haste! there is water in the cup: take the water at once,” Will the thirsty man say in any event?—“This is mere assertion: go from my side, O pretender! Get thee far away!
3595. Or else produce some testimony and proof that this is of aqueous kind and consists of the water that runs from a spring. Or suppose that a mother cries to her suckling babe, “Come, I am mother: hark, my child!”— Will the babe say?—“O mother, bring the proof of it, so that I may take comfort in thy milk.” When in the heart of any community there is savour spiritual perception from God, the face and voice of the prophet are as an evidentiary miracle. When the prophet utters a cry from without, the soul of the community falls to worship within,
3600. Because never in the world will the soul’s ear have heard from any one a cry of the same kind as his. That stranger the soul, by immediate perception of the strange wondrous voice, has heard from God’s tongue the words, “Verily I am near.”
